How an EMT Accidentally Built a Nearly $20K/Year Trivia Side Hustle

I didn’t start a trivia company. I got hired to host trivia on a lark.

By day, I’m an EMT. Trivia started as a side gig — something extra, not some grand business plan. I wrote my own rounds, showed up every week, figured out what worked in a real bar, and kept getting asked back.

One regular night became two. The crowds kept coming. The archive kept growing. At my current weekly venue rates, the side hustle works out to nearly $20,000 a year before expenses.

That’s not a promise that you’ll make the same. It’s just what this material has done for me: helped me run consistent, paid trivia nights week after week.

Seven years later, I’ve got hundreds of complete games written for actual players — not filler made just to stock an online shop.

Today, The Trivia Hustle has 86 live products. That includes 30 Archive Editions built from 18 recovered rounds and 270 unique archive questions, alongside complete nights, themed rounds, two-round packs, bundles, vaults, and the free sample.

That archive is what I’m selling.

If you run trivia at a bar, brewery, restaurant, fundraiser, or event, you can grab a game and use it. And if you’re trying to build your own trivia side hustle, this is the same kind of material I built mine with.

EMT by day. Trivia host by night. Built behind the microphone, not in a boardroom.
